Abstract
This paper seeks to examine the contemporary research methodology in the perspective of Islam. It will look at the challenges faced by Muslim Scholars especially young intellectuals in their researches about Islamic teachings and other religions, ideologies and attempt to provide sound solutions in light of Releventization with the paradigm of Islamization project. Contemporary Muslim scholars have to be equipped with appropriate knowledge related to both Islam and others, especially the dominant scientific knowledge. The most useful methods to be used by today’s Muslim scholars are, descriptive, objective, analytical, and critical with an informative nature where the reality about the Islamic Truth is presented accordingly. They have to avoid the use of apologetic approach characterized by inferiority, ignorance and inadequacy. In addition, the three-dimensional methodology, which includes the Islamic Methodology, Philosophical Methodology and Scientific Methodology are explored. It is expected that this workshop on research methodology provides an awareness that enables contemporary Muslim researchers to use appropriate methodologies in their writings while responding to ongoing conflicts in the perspective of Islam in light of al-Qur’an and As-Sunnah.
