Abstract

Baginda dikatakan seorang berketurunan arab. Menurut Ibn Ishaq namanya adalah Ayyub bin Mos bin Zarah bin `Aisu bin Ishaq bin Ibrahim. Ibn Asakir pula menerangkan bahawa ibunya adalah anak kepada nabi Lut a.s. dikatakan juga beliau adalah nabi dari kalangan umat yang datang setelah nabi Yusuf a.s. yang mana mereka telahpun lupa akan kisah Yusuf dan tersimpang jauh dari menyembah Allah tuhan yang esa.
