Abstract
Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) has shown great promise for various futuristic applications both for mass public and military. The sensing technology combined with processing power and wireless communication makes it attractive for being exploited in abundance in future. On the other hand, the inclusion of wireless communication technology with its open transmission method incurs various types of security challenges which put significant barrier in choosing proper applications of WSN. However, the main constraints come from the limitation of resources available in the sensor nodes. In future, we may have high-powered PC-like sensors or even supercomputer like sensors! Will our research achievements on WSN security be invalid then? In this talk, we would try to find a concrete answer to this query to get future directions of research in this area. The talk would present the general and advanced knowledge based on the investigation of the security related issues and challenges in wireless sensor networks. Various security threats would be discussed along with their principal defense techniques. In fact, there are a huge volume of works on WSN security. Yet, effective and practical works would be only a few. These are the matters that the relevant researchers need to know and emphasize on alongside finding innovative areas of strengthening security in WSN.
