Abstract
This teaching case presents the strategic journey of CV Agung Grafika, a medium-sized Indonesian enterprise in printing, publishing, and creative solutions, through the lens of ta'abbudi (total devotion to Allah) as the organisation's highest purpose. Rather than treating business as merely a commercial activity, the case positions enterprise as an act of continuous worship ('ibadah), where strategic decisions are directed towards attaining the pleasure of Allah (mardhatillah). Amid the post-pandemic recovery, digital disruption, and changing customer expectations, the organisation contemplates its transition to a knowledge-based, digitally integrated enterprise. Using organisational narratives, financial information, management deliberations, expert consultations, and dialogues with Islamic scholars and Pondok Kyai, the case demonstrates how leaders navigate uncertainty while remaining anchored in ta'abbudi. Organisational excellence is viewed not only through financial performance but also through amanah (trust), ihsan (excellence), shura (consultation), hikmah (wisdom), tawakkul (reliance upon Allah), and maslahah (public benefit). By 2026, management must choose between preserving its traditional printing business, transforming into a digital publishing enterprise, or becoming an integrated knowledge solutions provider. The case concludes with an open-ended strategic dilemma, inviting students to evaluate these alternatives by integrating strategic management, financial analysis, ethical reasoning, and an Islamic worldview, recognising that business decisions are ultimately acts of worship and accountable stewardship before Allah.
