Abstract

Sustainable Halal supply chain systems are becoming increasingly complex and dynamic in business and the Muslim majority countries. Some exterior influencing elements like Product Stewardship, Supplier Management, Production Management, and Logistics Management influence the sustainable halal supply chain. Several pieces of literature concerning sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) from a global perspective, but very few have focused on SSCM from an Islamic viewpoint. This chapter aims to establish the principles of SSCM from an Islamic perspective. Additionally, this chapter elaborates on the applications and current activities of SSCM in significant industries. It has adopted a theoretical approach for SSCM identified by mainly reviewing based on previous studies. This chapter also developed conceptually and applied a quantitative research method to test hypotheses. Data is collected through a questionnaire survey among suppliers. This chapter is provided systematic insights and a theoretical approach to the compatibility and applicability of Islamic Shari’ah principles in sustainable supply chain management to improve the overall performance of this sector. Finally, the chapter will assist policymakers and academicians in discovering strategies to combat this significant phenomenon in the activities of the sustainable supply chain in Malaysia.
