Abstract

This edited volume brings together scholars from the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilisation (ISTAC-IIUM) to address the contemporary epistemic crisis through the lens of Tawhidic Epistemology. The book moves from conceptual clarification to operational reconstruction, exploring how Tawhidic Epistemology can inform educational reform, disciplinary integration, governance, cultural identity, and international relations. Organised into three interrelated parts, the volume progresses from foundational principles to applied engagement. Part I establishes the conceptual foundations of Tawhidic Epistemology, examining the contemporary epistemic crisis, Islamic revivalism, and the universal narrative of civilisational Tawhidic epistemology. Part II explores frameworks for disciplinary and institutional renewal, including creative thinking, higher objectives of the Shariah, Jawi civilisational identity, and the operationalisation of Tawhidic epistemology in Islamic higher education. Part III addresses applied and civilisational dimensions, covering Southeast Asian Islamic civilisation, the Malaysian educational experience, and geopolitical perspectives. The aim is not merely to critique existing paradigms, but to articulate a constructive alternative capable of shaping institutions and public life.
