Professor Dr. Imtiyaz Yusuf is Professor of Islam and Dialogical Studies at the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilisation, International Islamic University Malaysia (ISTAC-IIUM), Malaysia and a non-Resident Research Fellow at the Center for Contemporary Islamic World (CICW), Shenandoah University, USA.
Dr. Yusuf specializes in the study, teaching and research in the areas of Islam and Religion with a focus on Islam and Buddhism And also, Religion and Social Sciences.
He taught in multireligious settings for over 30 years at universities and research institutes in the United States, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. Yusuf has published widely on Islamic theology and practice in Southeast Asia, and he is one of very few scholars worldwide who specializes in Islam-Buddhism dialogue.
Formerly, he was an Associate Professor and the Coordinator for the Islamization of Knowledge Program and also the Islam and Buddhism Program at the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilisation (ISTAC-IIUM) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. And previously for 30 years in Thailand teaching at different universities viz., Mahidol University, Salaya; Assumption University, Bangkok; Prince of Songkhla University, Pattani Campus and Mahachulalongkorn Buddhist University (Part Time), Wangnoi Ayutthaya. In 2010-2011, he was the Malaysia Chair Professor of Islam in Southeast Asia at the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding (ACMCU) at Georgetown University, Washington DC. USA.
Dr. Yusuf has published widely on Islamic theology and practice in Southeast Asia, and he is one of very few scholars worldwide who specializes in Islamic-Buddhist dialogue. His recent publications are:
