Dr. Hassan Suleiman is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Fiqh and Uṣūl al-Fiqh, AbdulHamīd AbūSulaymān Faculty of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Gombak campus. He memorized the Qur’an in his youth and pursued his undergraduate studies in Sharīʿah at Al-Azhar University, Cairo. He later earned his Master’s degree from Kolej Universiti Insaniah (KUIN) and completed his Ph.D. in Uṣūl al-Fiqh (Islamic Legal Theory) at Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah International Islamic University (UniSHAMS), Malaysia. At the postgraduate level, he offers and supervises courses such as:

Studies in Analogical Reasoning and Effective Causes (Dirāsāt fī al-Qiyās wa al-Taʿlīl)
He also supervises Master’s and Doctoral students in areas related to Islamic legal theory, jurisprudential methodology, and applied Sharīʿah research. Dr. Hassan’s scholarly interests focus on legal maxims, maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah, and the integration of Qur’anic and Sunnah-based reasoning in addressing contemporary social, legal, and economic issues. He publishes regularly in peer-reviewed journals dedicated to fiqh, uṣūl al-fiqh, and broader Islamic legal studies. He regards both research and teaching as acts of ʿibādah (worship) and amānah (trust), striving to guide his students in bridging classical Islamic legal sources with modern-day realities and challenges.
