Abstract

The process of translating the Noble Qur'an's meanings is one of most important issues that is still being debated and studied in terms of criticism and evaluation to play a more effective role in bringing its meanings closer to those who have no prior experience or knowledge of the Arabic language. In this manner, several Muslim scholars and intellectuals who speak Tamil as their first language have translated the Noble Qur'an. this study aimed to determine the history of the Tamil translation printed version of the Noble Qur'an. following the inductive and historical approach based on secondary information, the study finds that there is the lack of resources related to this topic, The translation of the Qur'an into Tamil, in both Sri Lankan and Indian forms, is a significant topic, given the enormous number of publications available today. Most of them are regarded individual efforts by scholars, however some were conducted by religious institutions, and Translations of the Holy Qur’an into the Tamil language are still issued. while there are dozens of efforts being made towards the Noble Qur'an, translation, and interpretation in the Tamil language, the door of evaluation and comparison between them is wide open in terms of linguistic, doctrinal, and other criticism, as well as the extent of their agreement to meet the needs of the contemporary Muslim minority in understanding the meanings of the Noble Qur'an and applying its requirements. Perhaps this study will aid in the completion of studies related to determining the history of the Holy Qur'an translations to Tamil Language.
