Abstract
Through the course of more than nine decades, Samasta (Organization of traditional Sunnī Shāfiʿī scholars in South India) has become an essential part of the lives of Kerala Muslims. The Samasta Fatwa Committee (SFC) has played a pivotal role by answering the questions of people and fulfilling certain additional responsibilities in the particular localities of Kerala. The present study focuses on intellectual contributions of Samasta, its methodology of ifta’ and the analysis of selected fatawa of Fatwa on marriage and divorce.
