Abstract

These Guidelines is the outcome of 7-month research on how architects can manage the pandemic through the built environment. The guidelines were initiated by AEA director Tony Wong as an Emergency issue for architects to review their environment. Based on a questionnaire survey and a series of discussions through workshop and webinar, With input and comments from the various expert members from medicine, sociologist, urban planner, and government architects, 13 guidelines that leave no one behind were finalised. Focusing on Asia for Asian scenarios, these guidelines, although with limitation, serve as a broad framework for the 21 ARCASIA member countries to localise their respective context. The guidelines identify short and long term projects in both the private and public domain. The guidelines are targetted to Architects and other professionals, the policymakers and the general public as a catalyst to review existing legislation and practice as preparation for other future pandemics.
