Abstract
There is an increased number published on artificial intelligence and neural network as part of deep learning. While we are still far from advanced artificial intelligence application comparable to a selfdriving car, there are some promising aspects of artificial technology that have huge potentials in dentistry. We reviewed the basic concepts of artificial intelligence, the research done regarding our profession, discuss the limitation of this technology at the current state and list down the potentials for this technology in the future. In dentistry, convolutional neural network can help automate classification of visual data such as photographs and radiographs are a popular area of research and showed excellent results. However, the current technology is only good in doing one specific task and yet to be a multitasking technology deeply needed in dentistry.
