Abstract

Kitab Taurat tidak pernah menyebut perkataan `Arab` dari anak-anak Nuh a.s. samada Sam, Ham atau Yafit. Tetapi telah menyebut nama-nama kabilah yang tidak syak bahawa itu adalah asl-usul kabilah Arab. Kabilah-kabilah ini telah lama menetap di semenanjung tanah arab, Mengikut Prof. Dr. Jawad Ali dalam bukunya المفصل في تاريخ العرب قبل الإسلام، ms 629 , berpendapat bahawa perkataan الأعراب itu bukan bermaksud kaum atau dari isim alam bahkan bermaksud البدوي iaitu yang tinggal jauh dari bandar oleh sebab itu Taurat tidak menyebut nama Arab ini dalam mana-mana perkaitan dengan keturunan Nuh a.s. pernah disebut dalam Taurat bahawa ada hubungan di antara الباديةوالتبدي والأعرابية .
