Abstract
This article examines the risks posed by Donald Trump's economic and geopolitical policies to the fundamental mechanisms underpinning the global economy. It argues that the stability of international trade, energy flows, financial confidence, and global supply chains cannot be treated as instruments of political experimentation without generating wider systemic consequences. By pursuing increasingly confrontational and unpredictable approaches, the United States risks undermining the very economic architecture from which it has historically derived considerable strategic and financial advantages. The article highlights how disruptions to the lifeblood of the world economy can produce cascading effects across states, industries, and societies, particularly among economies that remain heavily dependent on global trade and stable energy supplies. It further contends that economic coercion and geopolitical brinkmanship may generate unintended consequences, including market volatility, weakened investor confidence, and greater incentives for countries to diversify their economic and strategic relationships. The article concludes that gambling with the foundations of the global economy carries consequences far beyond American domestic politics. In an increasingly interconnected international system, unilateral economic disruption may accelerate fragmentation, weaken established economic institutions, and further intensify uncertainty within an already fragile global order.
