Abstract
Singapore is notoriously competitive in its education environment, and a recently published academic study reports that Singaporeans are much more supportive of enhancing human cognitive abilities through new reproductive genetic technologies such as polygenic embryo screening and gene editing than U.S. respondents in a similar previous survey. On average, 48% and 57% of respondents in Singapore are willing to use gene editing and polygenic embryo screening to ensure that their offspring are eligible for admission to top universities. These figures are much higher than the corresponding figures of 34% and 43% among US respondents. Therefore, we discuss some considerations on whether Singapore should allow cognitive enhancement to improve educational outcomes.
