Abstract

Islamization of knowledge has been a big drive in Islamic education world. Scholars have then been discussing on Islamic Education Philosophy and its application frameworks. Scholars identified one major issue in the implementation of Islamization of knowledge is deficient with textbooks, reference books and other teaching and learning aids. Department of Physics, Centre for Foundation Studies, International Islamic University Malaysia (CFS, IIUM) has embarked a collaborative journey with Kulliyah of Engineering, International Islamic University Malaysia (KoE, IIUM), in realizing the Islamization of physics by initiating Islamic Integrated Version of Physics Textbook. To enhance this journey, we have developed Physics-Islamic Flashcard (PIF) and utilized it as a learning aid to facilitate the process of integration Islamization in physics. The purpose of this research is to develop and measure the effectiveness of the PIF. The development of the PIF imposes the associating between four elements which are Tawhidik (Dhikr, Fikr, Syukr), Muslim History Inputs, Asmaul Husna and Quranic Verse/Hadith with themes in physics. The selected themes are mechanics, optics, dynamics, statics, thermal, waves and modern physics. “Pick and Flip” game was conducted on 186 physics’ students at CFS IIUM in Semester 2, 2023/2024. In this research, questionnaires for pre and post activity have been distributed to the students and the result shows that the PIF is effective as learning aid for integration of Islamization in physics subject.
