Abstract
Reform in the education process is necessary to keep pace with the times, as well as to solve the existing problems and challenges. This is what Malaysia seeks after the incident of May 13, 1969, and they saw that the unification of the people is a necessary matter when they tried that and saw it necessary with their own eyes. The research aims to uncover the educational reforms undertaken by the Malaysian Government state after the May 1969 accident. As well as evaluating these reforms so that it is an example to be followed in setting future for the State of Malaysia or for other countries of multiple ethnicities. The researcher followed the inductive descriptive approach, whereby the researcher reviews and collects educational documents from 1969 after the May 13 incident to the year 2000, then analyses them and draws up the reforms undertaken by the state to raise the level of education in the country as well as to solve the problem of ethnic unification in Malaysia. The research concluded that the Malaysian government reforms in the field of education are considered a radical change to raise the level of the state and focused precisely on building the identity of the Malaysian society after the May 13, 1969 incident. The Malaysian identity was not clear after independence for reasons including multi-ethnicity, and there was no serious attempt to unify the races until after the May 13 incident. The issue of unifying national schools and the use of the Malay language in education remains a thorny issue to this day. Also, through the documents, the researcher found a tangible development in the educational process plan, and this indicates that education takes a large space with the government.
