Abstract
Nowadays, children are assumed to be digital by default. Technology shapes and influences their daily lives. Without sufficient education and training, young children can easily utilise digital media. Because of changes in families' daily life, such extensive digital impact has made parenting more complex. Children and families face both new learning opportunities and risks because of digital media. Because children are vulnerable to digital risks, parents are expected to play a mediating role in their children's digital life. However, many parents are still unaware of how to parent their children best digitally, sometimes choosing restrictive ways that may ultimately hinder children's capacity to capitalise on the opportunities provided by digital technologies.
