Abstract

Many locate the origin of courtly love that is portrayed widely in European literature in the works of Arabic literary traditions (Dangler 16), and in such discussions Ibn Hazm’s Tawq is often mentioned as a principal inspiration for the European literary artists who depict courtly love that entails a love triangle involving an aristocratic married woman in a relationship with a knight or troubadour.
