Abstract

This study attempts to explore inter-religious dialogue paradigm in promoting mutual respect, harmony and peace building to Asia’s multi-religious community. The goal of this research is to show that the paradigm of inter-religious dialogue offers for the members of Asian’s multi-religious community better understanding of religions and shifts their views from hostility and enmity to mutual respect, harmony and peace in the long term. As a matter of fact, all religions teach their followers to stand for peace and avoid conflicts and wars. Therefore, the value of peace is considered as the cardinal principle by the teachings of all religions represented by religious communities in Asia. This paper focuses on: what are inter-religious dialogue, mutual respect, harmony, peace building and their relationship? and, why and how inter-religious dialogue is used to promote mutual respect, harmony and peace building among Asia’s multi-religious community? Historical, descriptive and analytical methods are used in the entire study. This research paper arrives to findings that mutual respect, harmony and peace building promoted by inter-religious dialogue paradigm offer solid solutions for responding to the ongoing conflicts witnessed by most of the members of Asia’s multi-religious community.
