Abstract

The trend of interdisciplinary collaborative research is fast becoming a norm (Adams, 2012), as postgraduate research supervision nowadays often involves more than one supervisor from multiple disciplines. (Hakkarainen et al., 2014; Manathunga, Lant, & Mellick, 2006). The purpose of supervision, regardless of the number of supervisors involved, includes steering, guiding, and supporting postgraduate students through the research process and providing technical and emotional support. Effective supervision means that supervisors can establish good and professional relationships with students, provide support and guidance, and give continuous motivation and inspiration
