Abstract

Kamal Hassan personifies what integration of knowledge stemming from various disciplines means in terms of a concrete embodiment of its insights into academic practices (Hasan, 2020a). He received knowledge of so-called religious and non-religious sciences and was exposed to both Eastern and Western education systems almost in equal measure. His multiple educational experiences and exposures have impacted his views on various matters, including religion and education. Having multiple educational exposures, he was perhaps better informed than many to comment on issues on the integration of knowledge, especially as a mission of IIUM. His involvement in the establishment of the university in 1983 and continuous attachment with it in some way influenced the course it has taken.
