Abstract

FUNDAMENTAL OF ALGEBRA (SECOND EDITION) is a comprehensive guideline on the subject of Pre-Calculus. This book is specially designed for upper secondary and matriculation students, in particular students taking Mathematics 1 (MAT0114) at the Centre for Foundation Studies, IIUM (CFSIIUM). This book is prepared by experienced instructors based on the latest syllabus, tailored to suit the needs of students in preparing for the end of semester examinations. The content of the book is strategically laid out where each chapter begins with a summary mind map. This is followed by notes and class examples based on the learning outcomes of the syllabus. Step-by-step approach with diagrams is included to further assist the students’ understanding. Furthermore, a set of exercise questions is provided at the end of each chapter. Two sets of samples of examination questions are also included in order to familiarise the students with the format and requirements of the syllabus.
