Abstract

Ibn Khaldun (1332–1406), the renowned North African Muslim scholar, is widely recognized for his pioneering contributions to history and sociology. However, his equally significant role in the development of economic thought often receives less attention. In his seminal work the Muqaddimah (Introduction to History), he presented a comprehensive vision in which the economy, society, politics, and religion are deeply interwoven. His insights, remarkably ahead of their time, continue to offer valuable frameworks for understanding both historical and contemporary economic challenges.
