Abstract
Allama Muhammad Iqbal occupies a unique position in modern Islamic thought as a poetphilosopher who sought to reinterpret the Qur’anic message for the modern age. His poetry is deeply rooted in the teachings of the Qur’an and reflects an attempt to revive the intellectual, spiritual, and moral consciousness of Muslims. Iqbal viewed the Qur’an not merely as a religious text but as a dynamic guide for individual and collective transformation. Through concepts such as Khudi (selfhood), freedom, action, ijtihad, social justice, and universal brotherhood, Iqbal developed a poetic interpretation of the Qur’an that addressed the challenges of colonialism, intellectual stagnation, and moral decline. This article examines Iqbal’s Qur’anic worldview, analyzes the major themes of his poetic interpretation of the Qur’an, and explores their relevance to contemporary Muslim society. The study argues that Iqbal’s understanding of the Qur’an offers valuable insights for addressing modern issues such as identity crises, educational decline, political instability, social injustice, and globalization. His poetic engagement with the Qur’an remains a significant intellectual resource for the revival and reconstruction of Muslim civilization in the twenty-first century. The study concludes that Iqbal’s poetic engagement with the Qur’an remains highly relevant in the twenty-first century.
