Abstract

This paper presents a cross-border Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Academic Engagement Programme between the International Islamic University Malaysia and Universitas Negeri Semarang to empower school and university students through technology, science and cultural activities. The programme was held at Sekolah Setia Budi and the Kulliyyah of Information and Communication Technology (KICT). It combined Artificial Intelligence (AI), STEM learning and traditional cultural activities to encourage creativity, critical thinking and teamwork. Secondary school students joined interactive AI sessions, electric vehicle (EV)-based STEM activities, Tamiya car games and soldering simulations to improve their digital and technical skills. Students also participated in a batik-making workshop using natural materials, helping them appreciate cultural heritage and environmentally friendly practices. In addition, KICT students attended a guest lecture on adaptive cruise control for autonomous vehicles, where they learned about intelligent transportation systems and AI applications in modern vehicles. The programme created meaningful academic and cultural exchange between Malaysia and Indonesia while strengthening collaboration among lecturers, researchers and students. Aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4, 9 and 17, the programme showed how technology, science and culture can be combined to create meaningful learning experiences and inspire students to connect innovation with tradition.
