Abstract
China’s military parade on 3 September 2025 signified its growing military confidence, but this does not mean conflict is on the horizon. Malaysia is well positioned to be a convenor of productive dialogue between Southeast Asian states and China. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has a fleeting but significant window in October 2025 to steer the China–ASEAN relationship towards mutual benefit.
