I am a Professor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Kulliyyah of Medicine, IIUM, and a Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist and Senior Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Centre (SASMEC) @IIUM. My career in obstetrics and gynaecology began in 1989 at Hospital Kuantan, followed by further training at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, Kubang Kerian. In 2009, I pursued subspecialisation in perinatal medicine (Maternal Fetal Medicine) at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Linkou, Taiwan.

In 2009, I pursued subspecialisation in perinatal medicine (Maternal Fetal Medicine) at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Linkou, Taiwan.
A defining moment in my career was leading the Sejahtera Flagship initiative (2019-2022), which successfully secured Baby-Friendly Hospital accreditation for SASMEC @IIUM, in line with WHO criteria.This achievement was further complemented by my pioneering work in establishing Malaysia’s first sharia-compliant milk bank, the ‘Pusat Susu Bonda Halimatussaadia’ (Halimatussaadia Mother’s Milk Centre or HMMC), which was officially launched by The Raja Permaisuri Agong on 26th July 2022.
I currently serve as the Chairman of HMMC. My efforts were recognised with the 'Championship Award' by the Ministry of Health and Industry Malaysia (MITI) in 2023, and HMMC was awarded the title of First Sharia-Compliant Human Milk Bank by the Malaysia Book of Records in 2024. Additionally, HMMC is now proudly listed on the "World Map of Human Milk Banks," further highlighting its global recognition and contribution.
Nationally, I am a committee member for the development of the postgraduate training curriculum for obstetrics and gynaecology in Malaysia. I co-authored the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Postgraduate Training Curriculum (ISBN 978-967-19566-1-8) and Obstetrics and Gynaecology Postgraduate Training Guide for Applicants (ISBN 978-967-19546-1-4). I also serve as a trainer for both the MOG and MFM subspecialties. I was the President of Perinatal Society of Malaysia in 2017-2028. I am currently the Chairperson of the Specialty Subcommittee for Education for Obstetrics and Gynaecology under the Medical Education Committee of the Malaysian Medical Council.
