Abstract
The pandemic Covid-19 forced all schools across the world to close their doors and shift fully to virtual learning. The sudden shift created challenges and difficulties to students in secondary education. A phenomenological method of inquiry and analysis was used to explain how school students experienced challenges of online learning during Covid-19 pandemic. In-depth interviews were conducted with four secondary school students at Klang Valley. The findings revealed that the students experienced four types of challenges: technical issues, learning distractions, limited interactions with teachers, and psychological distress. In overcoming the challenges, they used five strategies: positive self-talk, preparation before class, self-adaptation, seeking help and remain occupied.
