Abstract

This paper explores the views of a Turkish scholar Bediuzzaman Said Nursi (1877-1960) on the ideology of secularism and its impact on identity, ethics and social stability. It mostly covers the Said Nursi’s interpretations of Islam in the twentieth century secular settings. Based on the views of Nursi, the paper suggests that, in the way of establishing a secure and balanced world, a faith commitment could be considered a best way of managing diversity and conflicts than the secular semi-agnostic approach.
