Abstract

It is the purpose of this paper is to bring to light the core principles that governed the culture of peace. The concept of disagreements and its dimensions will be analysed to justify the real need for a holistic framework that would help guarantee social peace in a world that is divided on various issues related to religious, political and economic ideas and theories. The paper will also highlight that the essence and purpose of disagreement is to bring a comprehensive change on the various aspects of human life-spiritual, physical, intellectual, cultural, cognitive, emotional, ecological, environmental, economics and societal. The discussion seeks to highlight that the meaning of peace embraces far more than an absence of conflict. It encompasses tolerance, disarmament, sustainable economic and social development, democratic participation, gender equality, freedom of expression and respect for human rights. In addition, the paper seeks to recommend practical approaches for managing disagreement as a bridge for peace and sustainable development. Therefore, the present discourse upholds the view that with the ultimate goal of human well-being, the prevalent anthropocentric approach to resolving disagreements, peace and conflict resolution has its strength and weakness. In the articulation of the policy recommendation, the presenter seeks to invite the participants to shade lights on the various reasons why anthropocentric approach which is devoid of humanistic dimension as a result of education without a soul pose a great challenge to the whole globe.
