Abstract

Course Description: Auditory brainstem response (ABR) is a useful test to estimate auditory threshold and for neurodiagnosis. Despite its success, the ABR is considered as a time-consuming procedure due to the need to present thousands of stimuli for signal averaging analysis to improve the ABR signal-to-noise ratio. Substantial studies have been conducted in the literature to improve the quality of the ABR and to optimize its test time. Clinician that conduct ABR on regular basis must be aware on these available techniques to ensure high-efficiency and accuracy of their test findings. In this talk, advanced stimulus and recording techniques in the ABR will be proposed to solve the highlighted problems. Learning Objectives: At the end of the seminar, the participant will be able to: 1. Identify the stimulus and recording techniques to improve the ABR signal to noise ratio. 2. Identify the stimulus and recording techniques to improve the ABR test time. 3. Identify the recording technique to ensure a high level of accuracy for the ABR wave amplitudes analysis.
