Abstract

In the next few years, the demands and challenges for the 4 G (and its derivatives i.e. LTE-A) alternative must be addressed to meet the prime objectives of the upcoming 5 G mobile networks such as increased capacity, improved data rate, low latency, and better quality of service. To achieve these objectives, drastic improvements need to be made in cellular network architecture and the antenna configuration that is used for this purpose. This paper presents the results of a 5 G cellular network phased array antenna with millimeter wave beam forming at 28 Hz. A micro-strip structured antenna on a meta material substrate that performs as a leaky wave, in which, it has a composite cascaded right left handed transmission line configuration 32 unit cells. The main beam is tuned via vari-caps with gain changing between 5 dB to 6 dB during scanning.
