Abstract

The teaching and learning of Arabic language develops with the development of social life. The field of teaching Arabic also broadens with the increasing purposes of learning Arabic. The field of teaching Arabic is developing consistently which increases the needs of new communicative tools that make the meaning closer to the learner’s mind. With that people can be united regardless of language which leads to a new dimension, which is teaching second language or foreign language for specific purposes. This research was divided into four topics in four different research papers. The first paper highlighted the theory of errors in general, its meaning and sources based on the previous researches done that studied these errors from different angles. It confirmed the constant need of this kind of study in order to provide solutions to the learners to overcome those obstacles and finally makes the teaching and learning process easier. This part is a field study based on researcher’s own experience in teaching students of Arabic for academic purposes. Questionnaires has been developed and distributed to those students to investigate their level of understanding the morphological and grammatical items which in the researcher’s view are the sources of those errors. The sample of the study consisted of 75 students of Arabic for academic purposes. They were asked to answer the questionnaire as well as write a paragraph on the topic given approximately in seven lines to know their ability in using those items correctly. To ensure the students’ understanding of these grammatical and morphological elements and their ability to use them, questionnaires were distributed to eight teachers who have experience in teaching this subject to look at the matters from their perspective. Meanwhile the other three topics discussed the means to overcome this problem. It was based on the result of the first paper and hence the second paper discussed on developing dialogues to enhance the speaking skills. It also displayed the important elements that should be considered in teaching speaking skills to the beginners of Arabic language learners. The third paper focused on writing skills and emphasized on the importance of understanding the linguistic elements that were difficult to the students in the process of writing a paragraph or a topic, the research explained the characteristics of good writing, and the pre required knowledge before writing, pre and post writing. The research also explained the differences between Arabic and Malay grammar and morphological grammar that might lead to those kinds of errors. In the fourth part the study emphasized on the importance of building an expert and creative teacher by discussing the characteristics and personality which contribute to developing a creative teacher and the creativity used in teaching which makes the teaching a success with less effort and time. The information, knowledge about education, skills and methodology of teaching that he possesses provides him or her with that creativity in making the lessons easier and well understood. This research concluded with results and recommendations.
