Abstract

The process of Life Cycle Cost (LCC) can be classified into data inputs, conversion and outputs. Based on observations made by commentators, most LCC practitioners give emphasis to conversion rather than emphasizing on the importance of reliability, credibility and accuracy of data as inputs into the process. Past research indicated the accuracy of LCC outputs can only be attained if more focus is given on the data inputs in the LCC analysis. Consequently, a research project to investigate the current state and practice of LCC in the Malaysian construction industry with specific reference to data inputs of LCC analysis is being planned. The main aim of this paper is to propose a methodology for the study. The proposed methodology comprises of a qualitative research approach that combines two key data sources, i.e. (i) literature review; and (ii) a series of Delphi group communication. Comments and recommendations are needed in effort to further improve the proposed methodology of the research.
