Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly being integrated into healthcare to improve efficiency, accuracy, and the quality of patient care. In nursing, AI supports various functions, including documentation, patient monitoring, and clinical decision-making. While these technological advancements offer significant benefits, they also raise concerns about the future of human connection in healthcare. This article discusses how excessive reliance on AI may gradually reduce empathy, therapeutic communication, and meaningful nurse–patient relationships. Patients require more than physical treatment; they also need emotional support, spiritual reassurance, and compassionate human interaction during illness and recovery. From an Islamic perspective, the values of rahmah (compassion), ihsan (excellence), and amanah (responsibility) form the foundation of patient care and cannot be replaced by technology. Therefore, AI should be viewed as a tool that enhances nursing practice rather than substitutes the human touch that lies at the heart of the profession. The ideal future of healthcare is one that balances technological innovation with enduring human values.
