Abstract

Agriculture in Palestine is considered the most significant sector that contributes to the gross domestic product. It is the pillar of the Palestinian economy and central to Palestinian identity. Reviewing recent reports by international organizations and the Ministry of Agriculture reveals the significant destruction in this sector. Recent reports by the United Nations show that less than 50% of households in Palestine were food secure for the last three years. Smart agriculture is introduced as a solution to improve the performance of the crop production process and secure the food sector. This study aims to integrate the Internet of Things (IoT) and new technologies to enhance the agricultural production sector in Palestine. Three popular plants were selected, tomato, lettuce and cucumber. The outcomes of this study will save the farmer time and minimize the effort required in the production process.
