Abstract
Rectal cancer can now be treated without surgery in selected patients using intensive neoadjuvant therapy of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. This approach is suitable for those with good response but requires strict long-term surveillance. Early detection, proper screening, and careful patient selection remain crucial to ensure effective and safe outcomes
