Abstract
While some Muslim-majority nations have made progress, many remain entangled in the relentless cycle of poverty. Alarmingly, around 50% of the world’s poorest people reside in Muslim countries, with one in every five Muslims living in extreme poverty. This dire situation is particularly pronounced in sub-Saharan Africa, where 25 member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) rank among the most poverty-stricken globally, grappling to meet basic needs like food and shelter, The struggle is often exacerbated by a myriad of challenges like political unrest, corruption and chronic mismanagement that thwart development.
