Abstract

It took about a century after Bosnian annexation to Austria–Hungary to see an Islamic bank fostering an alternative philosophy of meeting the Bosnian population’s needs and demand for such economic services. Bosna Bank International (BBI), established in 2000, is the first and contemporary exemplification of Islamic economic thought in Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H) with a track record of a more than 18% annual compound average growth rate (CAGR).
