Abstract

Laws and Functions of the Oceans: An Integrated Islamic Reading of Marine Sciences, presents an integrated Islamic reading of marine science. It addresses the source and functions of the natural order, with the focus on the Islamic understanding of the natural universe. Besides the scientific explanation of the borders, length, layers and environment of oceans, the book also illustrates the oceans through within the lens of the Islamic divine guidance. Basic compositions and characteristics of water and their functions, as well as wind current, waves, tides and biodiversity of marine life are explained. Religious important of oceans, particularly the role of oceans in some selected Prophetic missions are briefly exposed.
