Abstract
The programs entitled Islamic studies have become a spot of added interest in the modern world, offering scope for multi-dimensional and poly-methodical areas of study and research. In the last few decades, new centers, programs, chairs, institutes and universities emerged focusing on Islamic studies. It is argued that Islamic studies in modern academia face several challenges of various types including epistemological, conceptual, historical, methodical. This study explores the common and specific challenges of Islamic studies in modern academia, along with suggestions of some considerable prospects.
