Abstract
ABSTRACT: Many overlapping factors contributed to the appearance of problematic and
problematised ḥadīth, as ḥadīths are related to various aspects of Islam, namely belief, jurisprudence,
legislation, and knowledge. Since the efforts taken by ḥadīth scholars are multifaceted, it has
contributed in turn to the methodological construction of this unique school. However, many issues
such as ambiguity, similarity, and perceptual disparity, have led to the different approaches of
analysing, explaining, and clarifying the problems found in ḥadīths. This subsequently created many
different schools of thought. This paper is concerned with studying and employing the methodology
of dealing with problematic and problematised ḥadīths. It suggests several principles and strategies
to tackle and solve the problem, all of which were derived from the established sciences of ḥadīth
