Abstract

This book gives students an overview of the basics of language and linguistics, with a focus on the nature of language, basic concepts of sound systems (phonology), word formation and structure (morphology), sentence structure (syntax), word meanings, and expressions (semantics). ). It will also discuss the child’s language acquisition, dialects, social aspects of language, and language change. The book contains 14 chapters to help students understand linguistic concepts with the help of various illustrations in the form of diagrams and related tables. Target group- This book is very suitable as a reference by students of Public and Private Institutes of Higher Education (IPTA); student teachers of the Institute of Teacher Education (IPG); course participants on leave (KDC); a group of students of Non -Government Religious Schools (SABK) Malay language option; primary and secondary school teachers; District Education Office (PPD) officers; and state (JPN); as well as all educators. In addition, this book is also very suitable for IPG lecturers; IPTA, and IPTS that teach major and elective courses in Malay either at the Diploma or Degree level.
