Abstract

Weaknesses in using Jawi writing among students can be seen through the teaching and learning process of al-Quran and al-Sunnah subjects not be implemented. The inability of students in using Jawi writing delays the teaching process and teachers have to use rumi writing in Islamic Education subjects. Based on the analysis of SPM Trial Examination for al-Quran and al-Sunnah subjects according to the three schools that took this subject, a total of 20 students failed in this subject. A strong argument why failure is because the subject of al-Quran and al-Sunnah uses Jawi writing. Through the observation of researchers, the use of Jawi writing is less cared and only taught formally in primary schools through the J-Qaf program while in secondary schools, it is only included in the subject of Islamic Education.
