Abstract
This study aimed at investigating the impact of an instructional program based on collaborative learning via social networking site on improving Arabic language writing skill among Malaysian students at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). To fulfill the aim of the study, the researcher developed a writing skill test. The participants of the study were selected purposely who consisted of 50 IIUM students in the academic year 2014/2015. The students were distributed randomly into two groups, one is experimental group which consisted of 25 students who learned using instructional program based on collaborative learning via Facebook and the other is control group which consisted of 25 students who were taught in traditional way. Results indicated that there were statistically significant differences in the performance of the two groups in favor of the experimental group. In view of the study results, the researcher recommends the necessity of activating collaborative learning via social networking in the teaching of Arabic writing skill.
