Abstract

Due to pressing obligations and responsibility between being a mother and a career woman, some women find it necessary to stay at home and give up on their careers. However, rather than being a traditional homemaker, these women challenge themselves to become an entrepreneur homemaker - mompreneur. This provides the opportunity for the women to not only taking care of the family, but at the same time contribute to the income of the family. However, such drastic changes posed an issue when it was reported that there is an apparent lack of financial literacy among the mompreneur. Therefore, the objective of this study to look into the function of Islamic social finance in improving the financial literacy among the mompreneur. The study undertakes a meta-analysis through in-depth literature review approach to analyse the issue of financial illiteracy among the Muslim mompreneurs in Malaysia and how Islamic social finance may overcome such conundrum. It provides an analytical conceptual study whereby it transcends the role of Islamic social finance in improving the financial literacy among the mompreneurs in Malaysia. The findings from this paper will provide important inputs for relevant authorities to design a guideline to design financial education programs aiming at improving financial awareness among targeted group of entreprenurs, especially the mompreneurs in Malaysia.
