Abstract

Education sector especially the higher education institution is facing a new reality – the online teaching and learning. An alternative assessment approach is the best way to conduct and to develop the self-learning and self-motivation among students. Self-assessment has shown to help students develop meta-cognitive skills that can be used in all aspects of higher education, and it has been shown to improve student achievement in a range of different academic areas. In this study, students in group were preparing a poster and do the presentation via a recorded video of their topic choice. All groups has the consultation time with instructor during the academic semester period (for 6 weeks). The students received instructor peer evaluations and feedback. The students found the multiple types of feedback, comments, suggestions, use of video technology, and the opportunity to repeat their presentations useful. The self-video creation stimulates the cognitive domains of the students. The process of thinking, understanding, reasoning, decision-making and creating cognitive domain is access. The video presentation help student to collect, organize, construct information and teamwork skill to develop. Video creation offer a new way for students to explore their creative skills and bring the students beyond normal activities in class.
