Abstract

Public Relations as a discipline in Malaysia, encompassing both study and practice, mirrors developments observed in other regions globally. Malaysian practitioners have significant opportunities to learn from their international counterparts, while simultaneously offering valuable insights derived from their local experiences. Such informal learning mechanisms substantially enhance our comprehension of this discipline, which is believed to have historical roots in practices of the past. A more commendable development pertains to conducting research in the field of public relations. The various methodologies we have become acquainted with, alongside the diverse theories introduced to us, have been integrated into the practice of public relations. This monograph represents the outcome of such research, completed in 2011 and subsequently forwarded for publication. The research conducted in 2011 marks the fourth study undertaken since the initial one in 1997. Considerable progress has been observed in the growth of Public Relations in Malaysia through this longitudinal study. A review of this report will inform readers of the numerous changes that have occurred within the country, which should instil pride in the fact that such practices are actively performed in Malaysia.
