Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine characteristics of the community and their interest in buying halal-certified chicken meat at Bu Koes Fresh Chicken Depot in Yogyakarta City. The location of the study was conducted in Yogyakarta City considering that there is a halal-certified fresh chicken meat depot. The sample in this study were housewives who were taken by clustering based on the difference in distance from Bu Koes' halal-certified fresh chickenmeat depot. The number of samples used was 85 people. Descriptive analysis was used to describe characteristics of the community and the community's interest in buying halal-certified fresh chicken meat analyzed with three indicators, namely consumer attitudes, subjective norms, and behavioral control. Each indicator and the whole is measured with a score then categorized. The results showed that age of th e community was relatively young, the last education wasmostly high school with an average income of less than 1 million. Consumer attitudes towards halal-certified fresh chicken meat are good and their behavioral control is high, but the subjective norms of the community are high. Based on the values of the attitude indicators, subjective norms, and behavioral control, the interest of the Yogyakarta City community in buying fresh chicken meat at Bu Koes' Halal Certified Depot is high.
